K-12 Wellness Program

The Needham Public Schools K–12 Wellness Department is dedicated to supporting students’ overall health and well-being at every stage of their development. Our program focuses on helping students build the skills, confidence, and understanding they need to make healthy choices, develop positive relationships, and care for themselves throughout their lives.

Our Wellness Program includes Health Education, Physical Education, and Experiential Education. Together, these areas provide students with consistent, age-appropriate learning experiences that support physical activity, emotional well-being, safety, teamwork, and personal growth. Lessons are skills-based and designed to be meaningful, practical, and supportive of students’ needs both in and out of school.

We use a six-dimensional wellness model—social, emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and occupational/leisure—to help students understand that wellness is about more than physical health alone. Throughout their K–12 experience, students are encouraged to build healthy habits, practice self-awareness, and find balance, laying a strong foundation for lifelong wellness.
